Privacy policy
Four Groups is a daily word puzzle. There are no accounts, and nothing that identifies you is collected. Your picks and your solving history stay on your device and never reach our server.
What stays on this device
- Your progress for each puzzle. It holds word numbers only and lets you resume a board.
- A streak count, the number of days you finished today's puzzle. Just a number and the last date.
- The date of your first visit. It is used to count whether you came back the next day.
- A marker of which steps were already reported during this visit (it disappears when the tab closes).
The first three live in your browser storage (localStorage) and disappear when you clear site data. We do not use cookies.
What we never send
- Your picked words, your guesses, or whether they were right. None of it goes to a server in any form.
- We do not read your IP address or device details (User-Agent).
- We send no notifications and never ask for notification permission.
- The result card is drawn on your device. The image never passes through a server.
This site is served through Cloudflare, which can inject a visit-logging script into our pages on its own. We did not add it, so we block your browser from accepting it. That means the log is not sent. The tag itself is still inserted by the front layer, and we think you should know. We do not use cookies.
Anonymous signals the server receives
- A step name (opened the page, first pick, a first miss, board finished, solved, copied or shared the result, saved the card, came back the next day, opened a past puzzle, first touch), the page language, a source label (a short word we put in our own links, or the domain of the previous page, never a path or search term), and the date of your visit (year, month and day only, no time).
- If the page hits an error, that is reported to the same place. We send only the error name (such as TypeError) and an eight-character fingerprint of where it happened, never the message, the stack or the address. At most three per visit.
- These signals are used only in short-lived server logs and are not given to third parties. To cover running costs we may show Google AdSense ads. They open only after a puzzle ends, and Google may use cookies or advertising identifiers for ads (under Google's policies).
How to erase
Clear this site's data in your browser settings and the records on this device are gone. We hold nothing that points to you, so there is nothing to erase on our side.
